Description:
Fully assembled smt module. Based on an AD9951. Has two
output, one meant to be from 100Khz to 120Mhz. The other
from 1 hertz to 100Khz. The output from 100Khz to 120Mhz
has a low pass filter to remove spurs and a MAV preampli
and is rated to deliver 3 volts p/p. The other output is
meant to be used with a NE5532 to deliver also 3 volts p/p.
This module can be controlled by the LX. 1645 Kit by Nuova
Elettronica. It needs 12VDC and 5VDC supply.

Great DDS with USB control Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This DDS board has two outputs: +7dbm and -7dbm from 0 to over 100Mhz. The correct model was KM1644 DDS, not LX1644. And it came already assembled. The DDS chip, the AD9951, is much more expensive than the AD9850 and the AD9851 and much more difficult to solder. That made sense to sell it only already assembled. The only problem was how to control. Now it can be controlled by a PIC18F4550 via an USB port. I used a built board by Olimex, the PIC-USB-4550, which is inexpensive. The PIC had to be programmed with a programmer such as PICKIT. The PC software Trinus 2.0.2 currently available at http://radioesperimenti.altervista.org/ is amazing and it contains the hex file to load onto the PIC. Also with few additional components it seems that you can make a power meter and an antenna analyzer. What more?

I just connected the module LX. 1644 directly to the parallel port of a desktop (pins 3 4 6 7 from the module to 4 2 3 9 of the parallel port) and used the excellent control software DDS VFO downloaded from http://www.radioamatoriteamsviluppo.it/. Everything seems to work very nicely from few hertz to more than 100Mhz. It has a wider frequency range rather such as the DDS-60 and the Norcal FCC-2. The output seems to be cleaner than the DDS-60.
