Nice Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Nice 8.5" antenna. Using my VX-7R on L1 (0.5W), I was able to check into a net on a UHF repeater about 15 - 20 miles away!

I plan to use it for the MS150 Bike tour. I'll post another review after the event.

Great Antenna but not super flexible Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Hi,

I've owned this antenna for about 2 years and have been very pleased with it.

This antenna is very well constructed and a robust and solid performer. On my VX-7R, it performs marginally better than the original antenna, although it's much more flexible and less obtrusive.

Unfortunately, I accidentally bent the antenna well past its flexibility limit close its base, resulting in a permanent sharp bend.

When I attempted to straighten it, the whip broke off at the base revealing an inner radiator of what appears to be stainless steel wire.

PROS: Great Performance, unobtrusive, highly flexible over a large radius.

CONS: Not super flexible like some h/h antennas. Sharp bends over a small area will permanently plastically deform the inner wire conductor causing it to snap if straightened.

Also, some RF feedback was noted on my VX-7R transmission when antenna was parallel to and touching the body on UHF. This is not present on the original antenna in the same position.

Big performance in a small antenna Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Plenty of bang for the buck.
Big improvement over shorter antennas without having to put up with huge and flimsy antennas.
Picked mine up at TEN-TEC while in Tennesee.
