Description:
Sierra Slims are made from a 4 foot long 3/8 inch fiberglass rod. There is an adjustable .100 diameter stainless steel whip that is about 48 inches long. The ferrule that holds the whip has to set screws so you can adjust for the lowest SWR and lock the whip into place. Sierra Slims have the standard 3/8-24 threaded bottom. sierra slims can handle a maximum of 200 watts PEP.

Excellent replacement for Lakeview Hamstick Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After Lakeview Hamsticks became unavailable I searched for a replacement and came upon the High Sierra Sierra Slim monobanders. In every way -- construction, ease of use, and especially performance they surpass the traditional Hamsticks. I've recently done an informal A/B comparison between the 20 meter models and found the Sierra Slim superior to the Lakeview Hamstick. I'll be repeating the comparison with all the 40M to 10M versions (except for 17M which is currently out of stock) soon and will post the results. Meanwhile, on the air results using my Yaesu FT-857D and a trunk lid mount have been outstanding.

Just finished evaluation of two Sierra Slim 20m antennas configured using the High Sierra dipole union. The dipole beam was mounted on a mast at an elevation of 30 feet.

A Collins KWM-2A transceiver was used to test the antenna. The microphone used was a Collins SM-2. SWR/power measurements were made using a Dishtronics 2104A Watt meter.

The antennas and dipole union are extremely well made. Setup was simple with a minimum of ajustments needed to achieve a SWR of 1.4-1.5 at 14.250 MHz. Band width was approximately 100 KHz (for SWR <=2). Power output averaged 105 to 110 watts at 14.250MHz.

Contacts were made with XE1B, TI2ERS, HC2AQ, N8ZBA, KG4IAL and VE6AO. Signal reports ranged from 5x6 to 5x9+10db.

Great Stealth, Portable & Field Day System Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Using two (2) 40M HIGH SIERRA SLIM'S connected back-to-back with the High Sierra dipole bracket and mounted only six feet (6') above the ground on a High Sierra tripod & mast, I worked the following stations using my Ten-Tec Argonaut with just 20 watts of output power:

-P40R Aruba
-JA8RWU Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan
-Py5CA Curitiba, Brazil
-EF8M Canary Islands
-Pj2T Cuaracao, Netherlands Antilles

These contacts took place during the CW DX Contest and were worked on 20 February 2009. These antennas are well made and certainly do the job. My thanks to the folks at High Sierra Antennas for allowing me to have so much fun.
