Necessary for ground radial installation. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Ross is an incredible guy, is very proud of his product and makes you feel like the best person in the world for buying from him, which is curious because I am not aware of any competitor.

The staples are perfect for what they do; hold the wires down long enough for the grass to pull them down.

2 years ago I put down about 30 radials for a Hustler 6btv, using 17 gauge aluminum electric fence wire and these staples. I wish I had done them all at once because it only took 2 weeks for the first set to disappear, making it difficult to not overlap with the second set. This was during the dry part of the summer...last fall I decided to pull one up to see how it was doing, to check for corrosion. The wire I chose, which had been tacked down on top of the grass, had been pulled under the topsoil along the majority of its length. The aluminum is faring well in my agricultural clay, suburbian back yard. I don't think I encountered any of the staples...methinks they turn to dust after they have done their job, which is actually a good thing, lest these pokey little things hang around to puncture somebody's foot.

Besides being an excellent product, it serves as a convenient way to evangelize the ham radio community on the ONLY way to install ground radials. People who dig trenches or cut slits with weedwackers or anything else are really wasting their time and energy, especially if the ground supports the growth of turfgrass or any kind of vegetative cover.

I had to rework some of my radial field due to installing a playset for the kids and other such things. My first stop was Ross Radio. I ordered Sunday afternoon when I ran out of them, and they arrived Wednesday.

BTW I think if you are going to use springy wire like I am, aluminum solid 17 gauge, it serves well to use the staples liberally...about one every foot. Otherwise, a kid manages to snag a segment between staples, and if the thing works loose enough, I end up with a jumbled coil at the base of my antenna (worst case scenario.) This happened to me because I put down a bunch of radials in the middle of winter, and there is no growth to "take over" and pull the wires in. May not be such an issue if you're using stranded wire which seems to stay put after you lay it out.

Anyway thanks Ross for a great product, and making it simple to implement the BEST way to install ground radials.

Excellent Product/Excellent Service! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have put down approximately 5,000 feet of radials for the DX-88 vertical antenna. The first 2,500, I dug little slits with a flat blade shovel, then pushed each wire into its slit. OMG, what back breaking work!

I said there's got to be something better, and there is. The Lawn Anchor Staple Pins from Ross Radio! These things make putting down radial wires a snap. My XYL (KD8CMB) and I added the next 2,500 feet in one afternoon. The pins went into the ground easily, held the wires in place and allowed the grass to grow over them. To look at the backyard, you would never know there is that much copper wire back there!

A fantastic product, at a very good price, but the best part is the customer service from Ross. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.

If I had more radials to put down, I would definitely place another order with Ross!

Makes it easy! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've dug trenches, used a edge-trimmer to cut slices in the yard & bent a ton of old wire hangers into staples trying to stuff wires close to the ground. These doodads are a lot easier to use & certainly a lot less work for putting out radial wires. Great stuff.

And now I don't have to worry about the lawnmower snagging all that cheap surplus wire I have posted in the yard.

Cost effective and works Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I got these lawn staples at a good price with very low shipping cost...and they arrived quickly. They were easy to install and held the radials firmly. Now I'm just waiting for the grass to grow and do it's job. Ross Radio is the best for customer service and giving you your money's worth.

Beats Digging! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Well, I am behind and this Spring just got around to moving the verticals. The pins were great and worked as promised.

Three months later, they are mostly gone, pulled into the ground. It sure beats putting slits in the lawn and allowed me to put down a lot more radials than I might have otherwise.
