Well built and excellent performance Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought an installed the 'brother' to this same antenna but without the Magnetic Base ... its the LMC-270. Hustler uses the same antenna with a permanent mount is the only difference.. it is rugged, well designed, and right out of the box was almost perfect for my settings for the 2 Meter and 440Mhz band. installed in the center of the roof I can hear repeaters out 40+ miles better than a hand held right next to the car using a performance antenna on the handheld. what always gets me with Hustler products is the quality... built to last years and years and the performance is always excellent...

Solid Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
When I originally looked at this magmount it immediately met most of my criteria; it looked like it was well built and looked to be a pretty substantial antenna that actually came with the magnetic mount. Sure, several companies offer "big" dual-bands similar to this, but they usually don't come with the mount.

Assembly and setup were quite easy; screw everything together, tighten the elements with the included hex-key, slap it on your roof, and hook it to the radio. After inserting the top element "all the way" and tightening it; the antenna tuned beautifully on both 2m and 70cm, requiring no additional adjustment from me. After reading reviews here, I was careful to not overtighten the coil or any other elements.

The performance has been outstanding. I can hit quite a few repeaters with just 5 watts, but the antenna handles 50 beautifully. It's been on three different vehicles in the last 2 years and has been the most reliable antenna I've ever had.

I did have to replace the PL-259 on the end of the coax after about a year...but that was probably my fault. I also don't consider that to be a "bad thing" since I'd planned on re-terminating it anyway.

It's stayed solid on my roof at any highway speed I've encountered. The magnet is powerful enough that once you slap it into place, it's not going to slide around unless you physically move it. Not even grazing tree-branches budges it.

Yes, it's a little more expensive than some of your options; but you get a quality antenna that performs wonderfully and will last.

Great antenna for the price. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had a Comet m24 dual band antenna, the coax got torn so it was time to be replaced.
The Hustler antenna has a nice weight to the mag mount and the coil looks to be solidly built as well. Not much to compare to the Comet as that antenna was a totally different style of dual band and the construction was totally different.
SWR on the Hustler was 1.2 to 1.1 across the 2 mtr and 440 side of the radio. That was right out of the bag without any adjusting.
It holds receive very well and transmit using my Alinco DJ500 with only 5 watts is a big improvement over the Comet M24. I think we have a winner here. Time will tell as to how it holds up.

Hustler Quality Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
After owning a Hustler 2m mag mount mobile antenna for several years, I decided to try their dual bander. My MX-270 works and looks great. I like that Hustler makes a good product and keeps their prices affordable.

Great Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Works very well on 2m and 70cm. I use on 2m most of the time to get better simplex results than my old 19" dual band antenna. I did get a crack in bottom coil when the temperature dropped to the single digits, but it looked like I had it too tightly screwed down. Hustler did a GREAT JOB on replacing it. I have other Hustler antennas and you can't go wrong with Hustler.

Good build quality, one issue Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I put the antenna on the roof of the car and checked the SWR...it was about 9:1 on the 2m band. I found out the problem was the rubber gasket they supply for mounting between the magnetic base and the loading coil. It's thick enough to prevent the center conductor from making contact. Removing the gasket fixed the issue. I'll put a bead of RTV sealant there instead. Otherwise the antenna seems to be of high quality construction.

Execllent antenna Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I purchased this antenna to use on my truck with my Yaesu FT-7800. The antenna is on the roof and even driving 70-80mph the antenna stays put. Also, I can hit repeaters with this setup 70 to 80 miles away and I live in the mountains. I get very good signal reports and the RX is excellent. So I purchased another one for my wife's car, with the same results using her Yaesu FT-90.
