Good Quality, Great Value Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
In setting up a portable QRP station, I researched the battery options available. PowerPort products were quite nice, but I didn't feel comfortable with their pricing. By the time I landed in on a 8A pack with Smart charger, the PowerPort product was already over $90.00.

However, additional research turned up the Powerizer company (www.batteryspace.com). Several reviews on their NiMh cell packs and chargers peaked my interest, but I was looking for an SLA pack due to budget constraints. Then I found the SLA-12A12V package. For $69.95 plus UPS shipping, the kit includes a reinforced and padded carry case with shoulder strap, a fresh 12V, 12A, SLA (sealed lead acid) battery, cigarette plug power socket with 10 A fuse on a coiled cord, and a 3A Smart charger with auto shutoff.

The company processes orders within two days of placement, and UPS safely delivered in 4 days. The battery arrived fully charged and ready to use, all components were individually packaged, and brief charging instruction provided. After verifying correct voltage (12.5), I plugged in the radio (IC-703+) and casually operated a total of 20 hours over the next week before recharging. Even after this point, the voltage on key-down was still 11.25. Obviously, for this radio, 12 amps might be considered over-kill. But, there was plenty of capacity to run a QRP contest effort all weekend if necessary without tapping the truck battery for backup.

The overall quality of this product is very good and the value simply can't be beat. My only nit to pick is with the case. One of the plastic latches on the case lid arrived broken. Otherwise, this is a great battery pack!
