mmm, ok, i guess Time Owned: more than 12 months.
the author equates qrp with cw.
including the mfj cub instructions is a waste of paper. you can download it for free from mfj, as stated elsewhere.
some of the kits shown are no longer available. the elecraft kx-1 is an example- and that was a nice kit.
i've had this a long time and don't remember where i got it; ham radio outlet, or maybe for $5 at a hamfest (I'm hoping the latter).

Ok, but nothing new in the 4th edtion Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently bought the 4th edition of this nice book. I own and read the previous 3 editions and am rally a bit disappointed now. It is basically a reprint of the 3rd edtion with only minor updates and contains even one big and unexcuseable error! The FT-817ND of course DOES NOT have DSP as a standard feature. You expect better from an author who is without doubt an authority regarding QRP and who even owns the rig! What I also miss are more reviews of QRP-accessories, there are only 8 pages in the book while military equipment covers 28 pages! Of course it is ok to include some vintage equipment but not if all the new stuff is missing. Some real great keys and basic accessories have been totaly ignored. The added "bonus" is a joke. The assembly manual of the MFJ cub transceiver (already included in the 3rd edition) can be downloaded from the MFJ website, so what's the use of including it? It just makes the book thicker and wastes recources, that's it. It seems that Mr. MFJ got some really nice ad for free. All in all the book is still a good read and worth buying it. But if you can get the 3rd edition for a reduced price: grab it, you won't miss too much.

Great Book Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Written by Rich Arland, K7SZ, this book is great for those of us who have been struggling with the idea of going QRP. Rich makes it interesting and gives some great tips on how to operate, types of equipment and antennas. It has it all.
