Obsolete, but still good Time Owned: more than 12 months.
We all know RG8 is long obsolete. I can't rate the coax type, only this flavor of it. Just because something is obsolete doesn't mean it needs to be throw in the trash.

This coax is a pleasure to work with when compared to similar RG8 sized coax, specifically, LMR 400. GREAT coax, hard to work with thanks to the rigidity of the solid center and the robust outer jacket.

Anyways, east to work with. Solders well, very flexible. Tight bending radius. Jacket is a little soft, but seems to hold up well.

Bottom line is, if you find some for cheap and it looks to be in good shape, I say use it. Obviously your needs will come into factor. If I were running a UHF contest station, this would NOT be the coax of choice regardless of how cheap it was. Better suited for 6 meters and down.

Seems to have none of the water ingestion issues that plagued the 9xxx Belden coax.
