excellent filter Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This kit is meant to be a notch filter that eliminates the FM band. This filter attenuates at least 20db in the range 88-107Mhz and 25db between 90-100Mhz. Compared to other filters this is much less performing. Other products can attenuate 40db to even 70db. 20db however may be just enough in many cases to prevent the saturation of the front-end or a preamplifier. This is because in the most performing units filter traps are usually used. This filter uses a Low-Pass filter (0-80Mhz) and a High-Pass filter (112Mhz-up to UHF) in parallel. The performance of this simple filter is outstanding, albeit filter traps are much more performing.
This design allows for much more flexibility. It may be used for instance, adding a connector, as a receiving diplexer to connect an HF and 6 meters antenna to the low pass filter and a V-U antenna to the high-pass filter, or instead one very wideband antenna to a HF receiver and a V-U receiver.

Mechanically this kit is excellent. The kit comes with 5 ceramic caps, 5 small toroids, the wire to wound, two BNC connectors and a nice wide enough box which is easy to solder.
