Having seen little info on the web about the SuperPhones I've decided to write a review on them.

The SuperPhones are are mainly designed for professional drummers who wish to listen or monitor music whilst playing or practicing. They're available for GK-Music at US$180.

First rst off, I was notably surprised and impressed when the phones arrived in 2 days flat by USPS Priority Mail. The box was nicely packed and the phones were lighter and more compact than I expected. As far as the limited selection of isolation headphones go, they are quite comfortable although they start to feel a little tight during prolonged sessions.

The isolation of the SuperPhones are great, and compared to my VIc Firth isolation headphones, the 20dB of isolation on the Superphones are surprisingly better than the specified 24dB on the Vic Firths. For this reason I find the Vic Firth's better when used without music (solely for practicing) since i can hear the drums more clearly (especially bass tones).

Soundwise however the SuperPhones are superb. They sound abolustely great. The sound is much louder than I expected meaning you wont have to crank the discman all the way to 10 whilst practicing. The added isolation also makes you feel like you are listening in a studio environment.

My biggest complaint however is about the workmanship of the SuperPhones. The sealand used to connect the synthetic padding with the headphones are uneven and spill out onto the white band. There's also a "Superphones" word and phone number branded on the top of the headband, which is unfortunately printed rather poorly and looks rather unprofessional.

Looks aside, they are about the best set of isolation headphones available. Whether they are worth the $180 is another matter. If sound quality is not your utmost concern, then the cheaper model of Drumphones II or Vic Firth Isolation Headphones (both which retail at $60-70) would probably do great.

The phones come with a 14-day money back guarantee but only 90 days of warranty, which is surprising since the less expencive DrumPhones II have a 1 year warranty.

Pricey, but absolutely the ultimate !! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
These 'phones are absolutely the ultimate if, like me, you've got a small room full of computers with fans and linear amplifiers with blowers.
Gives you a whole new appreciation for weak signal work. Spectacular performance.
