Great Microphone Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Great all purpose microphone that works well with ham radio transceivers. Same dynamic cartridge as the Samson RS31s and the Musician's Gear M1000. Super overall performance. Heavy metal handle with nice finish - it looks good sounding good. I purchased mine new for around $15. It compares favorably across the board and I have tested a lot of microphones as an independent product reviewer and consultant to the computer speech recognition industry.

I compared this microphone to the HEIL PR-20, which I acquired as one of several microphones comprising an industry test group. No one has consistently identified the PR-20 from the ECO-88s or the Samson RS31s in blind testing, because they sound so much alike. While you MIGHT discern a slight difference between them in a Nashville recording studio, nobody can tell the difference on a ham transceiver.

The Superlux ECO-88 is a great microphone for ham radio, with uncolored sound across the applicable spectrum. I use mine with my radio and with high end computer speech recognition applications. Good value and performance for the price. K8JHR

Cheap and Good Audio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Using one of these on my FT450. Good unsolicited audio reports with this mic running 100 watts, Mic EQ setting #8 and Mic Gain on NOR. Did some local testing and found these settings to be best with my voice.
