It's still being made?? Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
A friend of mine and I when we were in high school picked one of these up. It worked for about 5 minutes, gave totally bogus results, then just went dead. We ended up using it as target practice for our BB guns. I can't believe this thing is still on the market. Do NOT buy it.

looks good but works bad! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The one I bought is complete junk! It is hard to tune in the set fwd position, the needle jumps all over and does not show proper swr reading. I have tried this even into a dummy load for vhf and still gives me a 1.6:1 swr reading when it should be flat. Don't waste your money, buy a diamond model.

Good swr/wattmeter for $35 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've owned the MFJ-812B only a short time, and so far i love it.It seems to be accurate.I also own the MFJ-862,but i like the 812B better.

Don't think too much of it Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just got one of these, and I am now convinced, you get what you pay for. SWR readings were very erratic. Didn't matter how much I tried to tune the antenna. Finally got it tuned with a Daiwa meter. The antenna is fine, so the MFJ-812B was definitely bad. Sending it back and have ordered a Daiwa of my own. Will write a review of it shortly.

Save your $$ for something better! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought the MFJ-812B wattmeter a little over a year ago. After initially checking the SWR of my mobile antenna, I thought I was having antenna problems. I trimmed and trimmed my antenna and the changes in length seemed to make absolutely no difference in the SWR reading on the 812B. After checking it with another SWR meter, I found out the antenna was not my problem. It turned out the meter, for whatever reason, would not react to changes in the upper portion of the 2M band. I also found out that the power readings were *way* out of wack, especially when comparing the readings of the low power to high power scales (they weren't even close to eachother). I sent the unit to MFJ repair, but it came back in the same condition. Finally, after several phone calls and speaking with several people, MFJ agreed to refund my money if I returned the unit to them a second time. One of the MFJ representatives told me I could expect that from a $35 meter when I explained the drastic innaccuracies. I replaced it with a Diamond SX-400 and it works wonderfully. I learned my lesson: When it comes to SWR meters you get what you pay for... so you might as well spend a few more bucks up front and be happy.

A great meter Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned this meter for five years and it is still going strong. In side by side performance tests with my other meter (that I paid $100 for) it proved to be as accurate and as reliable as it is. It is well made and very rugged.
