Ugliest mic I've ever owned Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is the ugliest mic I've ever owned, but it works okay. I think the wiring mods could be easier.

A Great Microphone Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The Shure 444 was the first microphone I ever owned. It was a great choice.
It sounds great and I get great audio reports whenever I use it.

A true classic.

GREAT MIKE Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had 2 TRIPLE FOURS since 1985,my first one was used on my Drake tr4-c and Kenwood ts140s .
it was stolen in 1991!!! I bought another one.
I now use one on my dx70th and have gotten good rpts.I have had a 526t also which costs more but the ptt switch in that mike was inferior to the 444.

Great One Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Durable as a brick, my 444 without preamp soldiers on year after year, and always wins on-the-air A/B mic shootouts for most pleasing audio when compared to every other mic I own, and there are at least 15 mics in my Shack. Other mics may be prettier, but the 444 sings the best.

Shure 450, a real microphone Time Owned: unknown months.
I use a Shure 450 desk mic. on both my ICOM and 1000mP. I get unsolicited reports of good audio. The 450 is really the same as the 444 as far as I can tell. There is also a provision to change the impedence. This is a real microphone, not a tiny transducer. It has lots of gain. They have been around for a long time and can sometimes be picked up for a song in surplus shops that carry commercial equipment.

The 444D is a classic Time Owned: unknown months.
This is one heck of a amateur base mic. Excellent audio characteristics, peaking just above 2 KHz somewhere. If I find another decent one, I'll get it. Also, the leaf switch is indestructable.
