Poor workmanship Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchased this balun a few years ago, and it sat on the shelf until a month ago. It was put between 100 ohm balanced line and RG8. It just wouldn't tune. I ended up opening it up, and like other reviewers, found a large glob of RTV which was hiding a tack soldered SO-239. Upon removal of the RTV, the wire fell out of the connector. The SO-239 had been overheated, melting/burning the dielectric material around the center pin. Nasty stuff. The main coil is well constructed and mounted securely, but the secondary is just floating, held in place by the RTV. After replacing the connector and repairing, it still did not operate as expected. No satisfaction from the manufacturer (they offered to send me a new SO239), as it was "out of warranty". For a few dollars more, it's worth dealing with a quality manufacturer. I won't deal with CWS again.
