Easy build, nice tone, but Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Bought this a couple of yrs ago; just got around to assembling it. Good instructions, easy build, nice tone but tone distorts at high volume when using 9V battery. Nice crisp keying. It doesn't have mounting ears on the supplied speaker, a PITA.

Good value for the money.

Code Practice Oscillator that sounds good, easy build Kit Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Tired of CPO's that sound like a sick cow? Here you go- This one produces a nice sounding note. Click Keywords: Morse Express. Click: Keyers (left side) Click: Code Practice Oscillators (right) to MX T-Tone. Audio Samples at 15 wpm Hand Key and 28 wpm Iambic Key- judge for yourselves. My unit sounds great, but does have the slightest low pitched background hum- not really a concern. I use with Hand Key couldn't figure out to hook up to my keyer- nothing going to shape that audio at high speeds anyway. Quality, easy to build Kit; great first project, you'll enjoy for years to come. Project Box is purchased seperately. It's that hard, Brittle type of Plastic. Use sharp object like nail, scratch all... to mark holes for drilling... just -"press"- into plastic for indentation, so Drill won't walk. Circuit Board just fits, a bit of a squeeze. Note on left sidebar, Main Page the "INFO" icon; Click On- will take you to "Electronic Construction A to Z. See All; but especially, Part 3 "Preparing the Enclosure" for layout and other tips. Experienced builders supply your own enclosure if desired and this type of "Twin-T" Circuit is available on the Internet if you prefer to build from scratch- let me know how that works out for you. Kit and enclosure will be over $25.00; I think it is worth the price and is a good building experience. Morse Express has Superb selection for the CW Enthusiast; plus some building supplies, general Info, Articles...worth the Visit.
