Great Once, but Now Abandoned Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been a loyal WJ2O customer for many years, but recently Dave has found it necessary to devote his time to making a living, rather than continuing to develop this product. It was a great one once (5/5), but now an orphan. The big problem is that the ADIF export does not work for the notes that can be written with each QSO. After some work, the binary import from WJ2O for Logic *does* now work perfectly, and all fields are preserved for future editing/tracking etc. Thanks for a great product, Dave, but we have to move on. Dave suggested DW4WIN as a good program. I am using Logic 5 (with the excellent import from WJ2O). Take your pick...your mileage may vary.

Served it's time! Time Owned: unknown months.
When originally installed, the best DOS based program available. It is a pity that support dissapeared like with some other programmes in the past. It could have remained a winner if Dave was prepared to support it like he use to!
Remains a good program, just left behind in the flurry of advancement.

Left in the dust Time Owned: unknown months.
Purchased this program a few years ago. All seemed okay, but as the computer systems moved up, this program stayed in one place. Even the author left every one high and dry for quite a while - no support, web page gone. Since then he has returned, but still the same stuff - nothing really new. The program has a good system for logging and generating reports, interfaces well with QRZ CD-ROM. DOS based, DOS look - Sure wish WJ2O would upgrade it for windows - the possibilities are tremendous. WJ2O does have a reflector for comments, problems, suggestions, etc., but activity there has been very slow. Seems like only a couple of comments in the past 6 months. WJ2O web site is still talking about 'new' interface software (same stuff was there over a year ago...) Low rating is for lack of upgrades, keeping up with the times, and support. I finally had to jump to another program to keep up with the new hardware (DX4WIN).

Hard to beat! Time Owned: unknown months.
I have been using WJ2O MasterLog for 6 years and
I have found it to be the best logging program
available. Dave provides great support. It is
a keeper.

A fine MS-DOS/PC-DOS based loggi Time Owned: unknown months.
When I bought the WJ2O logging software a couple of years ago I bought it because it would

run under OS/2, DOS, and Windows 3.1/3.11/95/98. Because it runs under PC/MS-DOS it will

run on almost any pc, from an old XT to the latest Pentiums. So if you don't yet use a

computer in the ham shack, and have a non-windows pc stuck in a closet somewhere, this

software should run fine on it. I would recommed storing the software and data on a hard drive

though, rather than on floppy disk.

I use it with my OMNI VI and the Buckmaster callsign database CD-ROM, and it works

flawlessly with both.

When I enter a new contact into the log, it will read the radio via the serial port for frequency

and mode. It will read the callsign CD-ROM for the other station's personal information, and of

course it gets the date and time from the computer. All I have to enter is the sent/received

signal reports and whether or not a QSL was sent or received.

It is easy to edit the countries list, or add or delete prefixes and countries.

You can cateogorize contacts by something called a code descriptor. For instance, I use one

code descriptor for all my mobile contacts and another for all my fixed station contacts. I also

have set up code descriptors for each radio and for QRP operation. You can then print your

log entries based on these code descriptors and print only the contacts you want. Built into the

software when you get it are several predesigned reports for WAS, DXCC, 10-10, and the like.

If you're a contester, you're probably using CT or TR-LOG (which are also, DOS-based

programs).

If you're a DX'er you may be using one of the programs that can pick a needed country off the

local packetcluster spotting list, aim the antenna for you, set the rig to the DX station's

frequency, and call you away from the dinner table to make the contact.

But if you need an easy to use logging program that does all the basic functions very well,

including communicate with the radio and callsign database, then the WJ2O software might

be worth consideration.

Past it's time Time Owned: unknown months.
This was an OK logger in the DOS days, but it has been left behind. Product support has completely gone. The good news is that most of the new loggers support an import from WJ2O!
