very nice kit Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Has given me hours of enjoyment, both in constructing and listening to the bands ( I have transmitted, but still to finish PA). Do get a good sound card (Asus Xonar DX works well). It is so nice being able to see what is really going on in any particular band. The Genesis newsgroup on Yahoo is staging a comeback, with many beginning their SDR journey. Help with any issues is available on the news group. For such a complex kit there are very few issues encountered.

EXCELLENT SDR KIT Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
My experience of the Genesis G59 Has been good from start to finish.
Ordering was simple, delivery from OZ to UK in about 10 days.
The kit uses an excellent quality PCB with good spec components. The Online build instructions are excellent and i rate the build as easy, using only basic tools and test equipment you can build an excellent performing Transceiver, combined with the GPA 10 Kit it makes for an excellent radio ,10 watt Homemade Radio, something to be proud off !!

The Software side of the radio is good, with updates being made as required, the only problem you may have is making sure you have a good quality soundcard to run it, I currently use the Delta 2496 and the E-MU 0202 Usb, as yet i am undecided as to which one to use, they are both good and its hard to hear any difference between them.

The back up from the genesis team is good, you usaully get answers within an hour or two on the genesis forum.

Now the important bit, how does it perform ?

Well to put it simply, i now have a Yaesu ft1000mp mk 5 field for sale, it is head and shoulders above the Yaesu.

Great audio reports from all stations worked, no tx image problems and a great panadater on screen so you can view either 48khz , 96khz or even 192khz of bandwidth, a Contest or DX'ers Dream.

Numerous settings in software allow you to set it up as you like, from changing the screen look to adjusting rx and tx audio.

All in all a great kit with good support and when its finished and you have your first contact from Home to Hawaii on your Homemade Rig running 10 watts into your homebrew Antenna, theres no better feeling of satisfaction !!!

Well done the Genesis team.

Thanks to Nick,Tasa,Goran and Bruce.
