Review Summary For : Pro Antennas Dual Beam Pro
Reviews: 30MSRP: 330
Description:
The Dual Beam Pro is ultra light weight with a slim and attractive profile, measuring just 5m overall. The bi- directional charcteristics require only 180 degrees of rotation to cover the globe. The use of domestic TV aerial chimney stack brackets or gable wall fixings are proving to be perfectly adequate to install the lightweight Dual Beam Pro.....3.5kg. This antenna can be erected so that it is fixed beaming to your favourite directions, alternatively a light duty antenna rotator can be installed. The Dual beam Pro band coverage: 40m*, 30m*, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 11m and 10m. This antenna presents a very user friendly broad band match, however some transceivers will require an internal or external ATU to provide full power output. (*The coverage of 40m & 30m is possible with an external ATU).

Hi all 2E0CGT i was doing a 60hr qso on 20m using the 2Q0CGT callsign for the queens 60th year as head of state and what can i say but wow orsom great antenna look at my qrz.com page and see how many page reviews i have had over 2400 and 600 qso's from all over the world.
Nice antenna i have got 30 states in that time nearly 60 countries can not go on much more on how this antenna works if you do not buy one yer ether crazy in the head or you got a farm and you have a force 12 in the paddock(hi hi).
If you have a small garden and a 18ft scaff pole strap it to the chimney stack put a light rotator on it and wayhay yer off!!!
IN OTHER WORDS YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER ANTENNA FOR THE MONEY AND I USE MINE EVERYDAY!
Please see the antenna on my qrz.com page 2E0CGT there you will see its not mega high and thats that.

Hi all 2E0CGT here was M6JBM just an update on the dual beam pro.
This amazing antenna for the size money everything is doing great.
I have worked so far 56 countries from zl,vk,ja,hs,fo,kh6,zs,most of europe and 35 states of america most with anything from a 59+10 in europe and anything from a 54 to 59 elsewhere.
The antenna does what it says on the tin and with my setup and the height i have it at which is 275m asl the antenna is at 18m agl it gives me the edge over all other antenna's i have had up here at my qth.
I am upto 5s points more on receive and transmit well a good 3 to 4s points amazing stuff if i can hear the stations out there i work them simple.
Ok she is not a opti-beam but hay this is a tenth of the price and as far as i am concerned i can see that being 10x better plus i could not get one on my garden (hihi).
So to getting down to it its a well made great value great looking super small antenna that packs a punch of the larger antenna in a small package one word says it all ORSOM!!!!!!

Still impressed! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have now had this antenna for nearly a year and thought that I would do a follow up review.

I have this antenna mounted at 30ft and fed with 25m of RG mini 8 coax. It tunes easily using the internal tuner with my Yaesu FT450D and it also tunes on 6M although the antenna is not designed for this band.

I live in an exposed location near Dartmoor national park and wind damage was originally a concern prior to buying this antenna. However I can confirm that the antenna is of excellent quality and has sailed through a lot of high winds this last winter. In fact I am generally more concerned about the mast that the DBP is attached to!!

I have received lots of good signal reports using my allocated 50watts, but most notably the other week with VK2IZI who gave me a report of 58 no less.

For the money, I think it is near impossible to beat this antenna.

I have now had this antenna for around 4 months and thought it was time that I wrote a review on it.
After experimenting with other antennas and wasting a good deal of money in the process, I decided to buy the Dual beam pro from Pro Antennas. I had sent a number of emails to Carl prior to my purchase and these were always dealt with promptly with an excellent level of support.

The antenna is of excellent quality and although I have mine permanently fixed East/West, I have found the performance to be outstanding.

I live close to Dartmoor which can get very windy during the winter months, but it has now sailed through a number of storms with no problems at all.

In summary, I have found this antenna to be an excellent performer with outstanding build quality and value for money.

Great Buy Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Bought mine at Christmas 2011. Worked OK but I was not 100% convinced. Having spoke to Karl (the maker) he gives great after sales service. We came to the conclusion I have a coax issue. Coax swapped last week. Wow what a difference. I have been working all over and breaking some pile ups 1st shout. I run 100w and the recieve noise on this antenna is impressively low. Look at my QRZ log book page since 29/3/2012 W3DIY. Some great DX in the log. This antenna is also very loght and does not upset the neighbours. Martin

It really works Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After giving it a lot of thought & reading comments & reviews,I decided to give one a try so i took the plunge & purchased a Duel beam pro last month.I finally erected it on my mast & Yaesu g-650 rotator at approximately 42ft last week,I used a new length of RG213 24mtrs long however when i tried to tune the antenna it was struggling to tune on the 40 - 15 & 17mtr bands using the tuner in my IC-775 DSP.I then lowered the mast & removed 12ft of coax & returned to the shack, great it tuned every band from 40 to 10 mtrs with ease also it tuned on 80 mtrs.I was amazed at how well the duel beam pro was receiving on 40-20-17 & 15 mtrs, below are the first few stations I worked including reports.

TM9WAP...... 7.140.00.......RX 5-9+....TX 5-9+
IT0RXF...... 18.150.00......RX 5-9+....TX 5-9
M0PAW...... 7.130.00....... RX 5-9+....TX 5-9+
9K2F............21.266.00...RX 5-9+....TX 5-9
LZ1 134GO....18.125.00......RX 5-9......TX 5-9
HS0ZIQ.........14255.00.......RX 5-7......TX 5-7

All the above worked with 150 WTTS From my IC-775DSP Antenna @ 42ft rotated.Band conditions reported as fair to good at the time.
No one was more surprised than me at the results "I don't know how this antenna does it but it certainly works for me".Is it worth the money? in my case yes & I would most likely buy another if the need arised.

It works, as expected ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've built a lightweight fiberglass fishing rod version (with 2mm wire) with the same dimensions, while Carl G4GTW sold me the matching unit, that is the heart of the antenna, for my personal experimentation.
Raised at 13mt from ground, it works as a normal dipole, nothing magic but I worked the whole globe with 150W , better than my previous vertical@3mt from ground.
Reccomended for space or weight limitations.
Surely, the original commercial tubing version works the same if not better.
Great product for the money.

Excellent value-quality product Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have recently decided to re-ignite my interest in amateur radio and firstly installed a vertical hf antenna, I quickly realised the limitations and looked around for a directional antenna with low visual impact, I bought the Dual Beam Pro. The antenna went togethger in a few minutesand was very well constructed. I have been very pleased with the results. The antenna sits just above the roof-line and is rotated using a small Yaesu rotator. Receive and transmit are both excellent, from my qth in the middle of town I can usually work what I can hear, I have made several contacts in Australia, Brazil, Argentina and the Falkland Islands. The internal tuner on my FT450at will tune up on all bands including 40mtrs, 80mtrs and 6mtrs.
Carl, the owner of the company was very helpful before and after purchase and I would thoroughly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good antenna that is not going to upset the neighbours or the XYL.

excellent Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
excellent antenna, as there are no traps it has low resistance to wind, excellent db gain at least 3 s points better than a g5 on tx/rx.
for the price, brilliant value, assembly is vy easy and will turn on lightweight rotator.
worked mni gd dx station's in that last few week's.

Very satisfied with this antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I received the Dual Beam Pro under 24 hours of shipment time from Carl, who was very friendly and gave a good service to me. All my questions were answered within some hours an Carl kept me informed about my order at any time. I am the first user in DL who orderes this antenna, Carl said. I received the antenna on the 16th an I put up the antenna on my roof even it was very icy and we had snow about 15cm. Nethertheless I decided to put up the antenna :-) Took about 1,5 hours because I had to mount the antenna on the roof. Antenna is quite well build. No problems to set up the antenna, but it took a while to put the capacity end elements in 90 degrees to the boom. It would be better to have some predefined signs on the boom.
Once up on my roof I went down into my shack to see if everything works OK. SWR ist OK between 20 and 10m-Band - I also use a tuner to get it down to 1.1 ... was around max. 1.7 ... and it also works on 40m with an external tuner and I worked across EU with this small antenna. The antenna is sitting on a small rotator.Rotating the antenna to 90 degrees of your desired station the S-Units will differ around 2-4 S-Units. Compared to my dipoles in the garden for 20,15,17, and 10 meters the Dual Beam Pro was mostly equal to them. In some cases the dipoles where better but after turning the antenna to the desired direction the Dual Beam Pro was equal or better. I worked some DX with this antenna; so fine business if you have in mind, that the antenna is only 5m in dimension. Of course you cannot compare the antenna to great beams but if you have limited space this will be the right choice for you. Would buy it again.
