Okay, it's an "Internet radio" but so is Echolink and IRLP... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I chose to write this as a rebuttal to some poor reviews in the gadget e-zines. Obviously none of those people has ever been an SWL or sat in front of a Hallicrafters receiver attempting to tune in an elusive signal. Yes, all of whatever this "receives" can be had over a computer. And, since it tunes to 802.11b/g, it IS a radio, AND it receives broadcasts. That's where any resemblance to what I knew as SWLing stops.

Many countries have stopped their external service broadcasts, but have continued them on the Internet. Of the ones that still broadcast, content has become very narrow. So I wanted to get back to listening and bought one. The reviews in the other forums are right, it’s form factor is an odd box. Configuration and interface is clunky, but once done, the world is back at my fingertips, all in one place with domestic and international news, music, and culture. I even get my satellite radio subscription inside now. With no QSB or interference, to anyone who has struggled tuning in a station on a “DX-1-drifty” it’s a cross between SWL heaven and cheating.
