Fantastic build quality Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have seen this new antenna.

This antenna is constructed to last and is made from some incredible materials.

I have heard the results from Trevors tests using the new antenna and the front to back is fantastic ranging from S0 to S9 as the antenna was turned through 360 degrees.

Great to see a UK quality antenna being manufactured.

Would reccomend.

Very Well Built and Great Performance Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Vortex Antenna Systems are a new name in the Ham antenna community. The company is run in the UK by IOTA enthusiast Steve G0UIH/VK2IAY/3D2FI and assisted by his wife Gail. I don’t think it’s a big company as he indicates that all antennas are hand built to order.

Reading on Vortex’s website indicates that Steve has put in a lot of research into the construction and materials he uses for his antennas. Vortex use 6082-T6 or AA6082-T6 aluminium which is even stronger than the aircraft grade aluminium you get from some USA manufacturers.

I purchased a ‘Whirlwind’ 10m 2 element Delta Loop from the lightweight range although most versions are also available as heavy duty option.

Packing was excellent and following the initial unpacking we found some very informative and easy to follow installation instructions. A nice thought is the inclusion of ‘Alumslip’ paste to prevent corrosion and a few extra pieces of additional hardware as spares.

On assembly I found the materials to be of excellent quality and the antenna didn’t take too long to assemble which was made easy with the very comprehensive assembly instructions. I like the square section aluminium used for the boom - It certainly looks the part.

On the air I’ve found the antenna to work very well with good front to back ratio. This week I've worked VK and ZL and it constantly performs very well. All antennas are computer modelled mainly using EZNEC+ and there doesn’t seem to be any hyped up gain figures. The antenna has survived a UK winter (so far) and I’m looking at purchasing one of the larger heavy duty 6m Delta Loops arrays in the Spring.

Vortex seem to be off to a good start and Steve is a very pleasant guy to deal with. It’s also nice to see a new mainstream UK Antenna Manufacturer that’s producing quality high end antennas and parts. - Get's my vote! :)
