Reliable & Accurate! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Just realized that my 8040A is over 35 years old and still in daily use. I was surprised to see the number of these that are available on eBay for reasonable prices, so I thought that I would let others know that these are great meters. Mine was purchased used in 1975. Unquestionably reliable, accurate and stable. I check my meter's calibration every year or so and have adjusted it only twice in all of these years. The calibration procedure is relatively easy and can be found on the web.

This unit runs off its internal 4 "C" size NiCads with a wall wart to charge them. I have had to replace these NiCads twice over the years, easy job, best to use NiCads with the solder tabs. Good as new afterwards. The 8040A is small, very portable, and very easy to read with those large red LEDs.

Highly Recommended!
