Review Summary For : CHAMELEON V12 HF/VHF/UHF Antenna
Reviews: 3MSRP: TBA
Description:
The Chameleon V12 HF/VHF/UHF Multiband Antenna covers 80M to 6M including MARS/CAP frequencies and 2M, 1.25M, 70CM up to 500MHz including the marine channels with a proper installation. The V12 is an off center fed dipole.

The main differences of the V12 compared to the V11 are the following:

•The V12 size is 12’6” long instead of 16’8”. Very often space and location dimension will dictate the antenna choices.
•The V12 can be configured as a J-Pole rather than a dipole.

Works great! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have the V12 with CADMIT

Never tried it on VHF/UHF but I suspect it would work OK

I have used it on HF 10-80m with excellent results.

My experience was to get the antenna system up to a height that cleared my house roof (~15ft), once it was in the clear it worked very well.

When I have had it mounted lower it requires the use of a tuner, for 80m & 10m.

This is a great antenna for portable and covert types of installations, and I am able to use it without a tuner when it is in the clear!

The customer service at Chameleon Antenna is stellar, and shipping was only 2 days to my location.

Great choice for a multiband dipole Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have the V12 with the Cadmit mount on a mast about 20 feet up. Just clears the roof. Since adding the Cadmit, the SWR has leveled off across all bands from 40 to 6 meters. The noise level dropped substantially.
I have QSO'd SSB with Russia, Hungary, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Czech Rep, Slovenia, Romania, Ireland, Brazil, Aruba, Nova Scotia, and most of the good ole USA including Washington state from my location in SW Florida. I have made even further contacts using PSK31 at 50 watts max. I am using an Elecraft K2 with 100 watt output. Actually, I checked into a net on 20M with a Minnesota station, and when done I noticed I was putting out 3 watts!
I have an issue with a small lot where I couldn't put out radials, and this antenna is the perfect solution. Couldn't be happier!
Carl has been great to deal with. I had many questions since I had never dealt with a vertical dipole.

V12 HF/VHF/UHF Multiband Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I wanted an antenna that covered just about all of the bands and after doing some research, I chose the Chameleon. Well worth the $ spent. I can tell you that this is a great antenna, very versatile and can be set up and mounted many different ways, without many different components. This antenna is a good choice for those who have limited space for mounting and the best part of it is that counterpoises are not required. This antenna is an excellent choice for EMCOMM, as it is very easy to transport and can be broken down and put together again in a matter of minutes. It is also a great antenna for field day. Mine is mounted on a portable tripod with a telescoping 20’ mast and I couldn’t be happier with it. The first week that I had it, I was able to communicate on HF, at a range of about 400 to 500 miles and that was just the beginning of my HF experience. Of course, I used the antenna on the other bands, but was very impressed with the range I was getting on HF, which by the way is not very far, when compared to what other Chameleon users have reported - communicating with people who are over 2,000 miles away.

Their customer service is unbelievable. I must have called Steve, the owner, at least a half dozen times, to answer the questions that I had and he was always more than willing to help me out and made sure that my questions were answered. Every time we ended our call, he made it a point to tell me that if I had any more questions, to give him a call back. In fact, he even set up a V12 at his place and connected it to a similar rig like mine, just so he could provide me with the answers to some of the questions that I had. Carl over on the Chameleon Forum website was also extremely helpful and always quick to reply back. Top notch company. Hats off to you and your team Steve.
