Monobander Performance - Good Value Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I had been looking for a high performance antenna WARC band antenna with low-maintenance characteristics and long-life potential. I was lucky to be an early user of the Bencher Skylark where the 12-17M WARC band yagi is mounted at 60 feet and stacked below a Bencher Skyhawk. Observations:
- Mechanical design, fit and finish are of the highest quality.
- Lightweight and strong.
- Monobander performance: pattern and gain verified in field tests.
- Flat SWR measured at less than 1.4:1 at band edges.
- Stacking with Skyhawk at 7-feet or less possible with 90-degree orientation to eliminate interaction observed on 15M band.
- High power choke balun supplied.

On the air performance is excellent. Tests to a near-by mountain top with 3-degree horizon, and stations across the US and Hawaiian Islands provided pattern measurements that confirmed design data. Over 100 countries were worked this winter in less than 3 months on 18.1MHz. and the Skyhawk proved to be a band opener on 24MHz as well.

I believe the Bencher Skylark and other Bencher antennas to be a good value.
