Its a GREAT reciever!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I picked mine up in 1997 at the world famous Dayton fleamarket. I saw it for $200.00 and I got it for $150.00. This old radio looks cool in the shack and works "cool" also with the classic FT Look!. The audio is superb and LOUD. The sensitivity is excellent considering it is hooked to a random attic antenna. You need a seperate antenna for BCB but there are modifications on the internet to get around that. These radios are still well sought after on the used market and I got lots of comments as I was carrying it around the flea market! If you can find one, get it. You will not regret it!

Good Fun Rig Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Yes - it has no memories and has wierd tuning ! But this little radio has given me more fun and listening pleasure than any other ( I have had it for years ) ! Cheap to buy, looks really cool, sensitive and gives really good sound from a decent speaker. As the other reviewer says a filter really brings out the juice. I use an old adjustable filter from the same era ( Datong FL2) and have wired in. Reliable and solid its useful for SWL's covering all frequencies upto 30 Mz.

Warm and Fuzzy Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The FRG-7 is a classic 70's vintage Wadley Loop receiver made by Yaesu, and also sold under the Sears label. Sensitive, stable, all solid state with lovely audio, and able run off of battery power or AC, the FRG-7 is a dynamite value for an analog general coverage receiver. I've had mine for a few years now, and while it's a bit broad for CW or SSB, it is just super on AM and the SW BC bands. Its classic FT-101 styling looks cool in my shack, too. If you're really performance oriented, you can add a Collins mechanical filter in the 455 I.F. without matching difficulties.
