Kit not complete Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
As an experienced kit builder (Elecraft K-2 and all companion transverters, OHR QRP Classic, and hundreds of other kits through the years), I've come to expect a little more polish from a kit. I built one of Ten Tec's transverter kits, and it was infinitely a better experience than this. To start with, the 1051 doesn't come with a housing, it's available separately. To add insult to injury, the housing has no holes drilled. Also not included are antenna connectors, an on/off switch, or means to connect power to it. So it's not really a kit, it's a "partial kit".

On the positive side, Ten Tec circuit boards are easy to solder to, well marked, and assembly instructions are very good. Ten Tec says it can also be incorporated inside an antenna tuner (still requires an enclosure for shielding) but you'll additionally need some RF-rated SPDT switches to put it in and out of circuit.

I'll post another review after I've completed assembling it and had a chance to test it out. This review is from the builders perspective, not from an operational perspective.
