0% 'At a club station'???

Only one vote 'At a club station' (0%), that is weird. Around 10% of the members of my club do not even have a station at home, Some not even a radio, absolutely nothing, ... but, nonetheless, are clever contesters, of course they operate from the club. Unfortunately, I will never be that clever!

quit yer moaning

Operate mostly at home but portable a close
second.

For all those complaining that the survey
questions have bottomed out, there is an
"enter your idea" tab just over there on the
right. Let's see what you come up with.
Unless of course, it's just easier to moan
and whine about things.

Home is where the Shack is!

At home, definitely... It's where I can work upgrading the equipment and make the "best" contacts while relaxing while sharing my "Love" and "creativeness" for the interest I've had in Short Wave and Amateur Radio since I was 14! '73 AA7LX George.

Low Bands at Home But Who Cares?

I operate the low bands at hoem and use VHF FM
in both mobiles . Gotta say, this is a very
strange question; in other words who really
cares? I can't believe you can't come up with
more interesting questions!

Home Sweet Home

I was actually a bit surprised by the
90% result. I was under the impression
that there were a "few" more mobile
ops.

Different bands, different locations

I operate HF from home QTH and VHF/UHF mobile and field. That wasn't one of the choices...

I'm a CW and digital mode op on HF, mostly, so HF mobile quickly became uninteresting (since because I'm unable to walk & chew gum at the same time, CW and driving at the same time would be deadly). VHF/UHF weak-signal mountaintopping is great fun but I am only mildly interested in VHF/UHF from home.
I have little use for VHF analog repeaters any more, but have great interest in digital voice for VHF/UHF, so that's what I like to run while mobile.

SONORAN DESERT

Live in HOA. Death penalty if you violate sacred HOA rules. I
pack my gear into my camp trailer and spend a week out in
Arizona Sonoran Desert or at 8,000 feet in the pines during the
hot months. Love the outdoors and the night skies are
amazing. Clean air, rf quiet environment and more.

I operate both home and mobile about equally.

Try to find a better antenna....

Hi all,

I started a websdr: http://heppen.be:8091 because my antenna is performing real well.
People disbelieved me when I was handing out reports.
How to show them it wasn't a lie?

Build a websdr so people can verify their own signal online.

They never accused me again :-)

So yes, at home. I do not like those "designed" and "calculated" antenna's....good SWR but rubbish radiation.
Oh yeah, they even dare to call them resonant.

Sorry, so I use my stuff at home, often others fail to deliver the promises.
I mean the commercial and "new" invented stuff.

Missed a KEY point

Answer #6 should be Aero/Space, being a few decades that sailing is no safe anymore, as to Radio Officers, well... On the other hand, In Space Everyone Can Hear You Keying.

Do you operate in boxers or briefs? Or to keep from tripping circuit breakers, do you have no shorts?

"Distracted driver law"

Thanks, KB6QXM, I wasn't aware the law had
changed. I haven't been active much lately. Guess
I'll remove my mobile gear now.

When I have time

I work almost 100% from my home QTH, when I have time away from the grind of the Silicon Valley. The terrible and long commute to and from work. 3 hours on the road alone.

Cannot entertain myself as I did in the past with a mobile rig as the state of California has outlawed mobile ham radio while driving. "Distracted driver law".

At least I live away from the Silicon Valley not only because the extreme cost of living, but all of the HOAs and CC&Rs AND the people that think that a ham radio antenna ruins their view from their $2M+ home or that they will get radiated, yet they talk with their cell phone to their head.

An SDR, an amplifier and if I have time to rag chew a little on the weekend, then life is good.

Ham radio is for people that have copious amount of spare time, not someone like me dealing with the Silicon Valley grind.

2-Part Authentication

As a Principal Systems Engineer for a military service now transforming the way we do cyber resiliency, the two-part authentication is a total geeky waste. The usability for older operators is low and the need for what exactly is high? If a site is properly designed and maintained, password and authentication are the academic solution that every certified IT professional is taught to use. Sadly, it paralyzes systems for the User - the main reason of having the site. I am buried in security at work, and have my emails protected, but exactly what on site professionals under the federal PPI laws or using the latest CMMC NIST standards requires this hobby site to conform to a Government standard for awarding contracts or protecting information? My answer is no. LOTW made me keep my eQSL account alive. This is a hobby - period. It is bad enough to have operators using software to blare away at CW and other modes rather than by hand and contesters hogging the band for us experimenters and DX hounds, but this is simply another monkey-see-monkey-do proposal. If your personal data on this site is that sensitive, then edit your profile. Let's keep this a fun-filled hobby and not another IT-intensive administrative nightmare especially for our elderly operators.

At home now.

I used to work a lot of HF and 2M mobile until I retired. Since retirement, the mobile hardly ever gets turned on. I spend most of my time now days at home on 6M FT8.
