Replacement for a Radio Shack PRO-164 Antenna

Can anyone tell me what can I buy as a replacement to my Radio Shack PRO-164 antenna, the one I have is disintegrating slowly...
Thank you

SSB

I usually work North American contests, including the QSO Party Challenge, but occasionally hit up some DX, especially if I hear something new. Pretty much all SSB, but an occasional FT8/FT4.

Chasing DX

I don't chase DX. Will answer a DX CQ if I'm spinning the dial and hear someone.
Modes of operation. SSB, JS8Call, CW. Rag chew, SOTA and POTA. No contesting.

A lot of variables

I like working DX but it isn't all I do with my ham radio time. If there's a once-in-a-decade DXpedition on, or if the bands are just hot-hot-hot then I dive right in. Otherwise I cruise the bands for DX calls on an occasional basis when conditions are decent. A couple of my most treasured DX catches were listening to who it was calling CQ.

My preferred DXing mode is CW, and I run 100W to simple antennas. 234 confirmed and counting.

Chasing DX

When the mood strikes --- and condx permit --- it's CW 95% of the time. Much higher probability of making a successful DX contact when QRO is defined as utilizing a few hundred watts -- not 1500.

DXing

These days, I've been chasing new band/countries mostly on FT8, but will get on CW if there is something good on. I was always primarily a CW operator, chasing DX and operating contests, but since retirement and moving, I'm using only 100 watts and a 27 foot vertical.

Chase Dx

CW is my mode of choice. It is also very practical with wire antennas and 200 Watts.

CW, SSB and 10FM dx mainly.

Analog modes only on upper HF. CW first then a heavy mix of HF SSB and 10 meter FM dx. Just this year alone on 10 meter FM I have 4 KH6's, a dozen South Americans, Several Caribbean hams, a ZL, several JA's and 2 Koreans on 29.600, 29.300 and 29.280 MHz FM plus a couple hundred using CW/SSB on most continents on 10, 12 and 15 meters.

Love DX'ing - working CW mainly

Lately (april 2022) I had to move and now live on a top floor appartment and there is no room for my hex beam; I use a vertical now so I'm quite limited. Looking for another antenna; maybe a 2 el. yagi.

Favorite DX activities

I love DXing. SSB is what I like and I prefer 15 meters. I started making contacts in January 2022. I run 100 watts with a fan dipole. I avoid pile ups due to fellow HAM's just turning up their amps. I have made contacts on every continent except Africa. Still working on that one. On weekend, you may find me on portable transmitting from the Utah mountains..

Love DX-ing

DX-ing is my thing
All modes like CW, DIGI and sometimes SSB (for the new DXCC's)
I like to hear my callsign coming back in a big pile-up.

DX

Never got into it, and now, at 74, still have the impatience I had at 15. No way I'm going to sit in a pileup for an hour hoping to get through, no matter the mode, and no, not going to buy an amp, either. Plenty of other things I enjoy in this hobby.

Favorite DX activity

SSB or CW, depending on which mode I need for the particular band that is active. My preference would be a good SSB pileup on 15 meters.

DXing

I enjoy many aspects of our hobby, but chasing DX has always been my favorite. These days it seems as though the FT-modes have taken over the bands, but I truly prefer the challenge of working my way through a good CW pileup. I recently retired from a 46 year career so I’m looking forward to increasing my ability to chase DX during times when I couldn’t before.

DX

If it’s there and the operator is calling I will answer.I won’t do a pileup and
Don’t go looking for it.

DX Modes

I usually use SSB for DX. CW on occasion, because it breaks down language barriers, and I am a "slow CWer".

CW only

Low power, wire antennas equals CW. I do not operate FT8.

CW Only

Only operate CW here.

Mode don't matter

Using the mode that it takes. CW, SSB, FT/48, RTTY Don't care if I can make the contact and have the confirmation.
Posted by SE3X on 2022-07-16

Occasional DX

I chase SSB DX using search, listen, and pounce LAST depending upon optimum propagation/skip conditions with a 33' vertical and 200 W.

Please Somebody Stop Me Before I DX Some More...!!!

Back not too many years ago I was an absolute RABID 160-meter DX chaser for just the longest of time --- but the big Ontario freezing rain storm of December 2012 put an end to my 3-element extended inverted "L" triangular phased array, my 1500' Beverage, 160-meter dipole, & both of my K9AY receiving loops...

...And not just the wires themselves, but most of their supporting trees, tool

Just as well, though: after awhile I found most of the domestic 160-meter DX crowd to be extremely cliquish & self-exclusive. And they weren't about to let a newcomer like me encroach upon their ranks to usurp any of their "...glory", either. I don't know if it's still like that, or not, as I haven't so much as even sent-out a single peep on Top Band coming up to 10 years, now...& I do NOT particularly miss it here.

Oh I'll still pursue DX whenever & wherever I might hear any, but if there's none around..."M'eh...!" I've netted some 155 DXCC countries on 160, & well over 250+ on the other bands, anyway. So I've more than satisfied my cravings in that regard, already.

Anymore, just give me a good rag chew, or other, on my favourite mode --- i.e. CW --- & I'm a happy camper...!

Every now and then.

I mostly work special event and POTA stations. I just work SSB these days as although I love CW I lost the ability to send when i had a stroke last year and haven't been able to get it back.

It's What I Do!

As a child, I was a DXing SWL. I was possessed by the romance of hearing far away stations. Once licensed back in the 1950s, I not only could hear the DX but also work DX. Wow! What a thrill! I still go after DX stations almost exclusively on digital modes. I have worked some countries over and over but so what? Maybe to some of them I am their first "DX".

Casual DX

I work CW exclusively. Casual and opportunistic work has gotten me to 150 confirmed. I'm working slowly on the next 50. I especially like to work DXpeditions.
