A dream

Just sitting on the couch dreaming about the Dayton Hamvention.....what a nightmare....fighting the fat, smelly people, standing in line at the port-a-potties, paying overprices for the hot dogs, etc.

Hw abt fixing the qrp project

Well, fixing the "one day" gear and and checking out the QRP stuff is the same to me. Most of my gear is not QRP, but I relish the soldering iron and building, so if I am fixing anything, it is the project I am taking so long to get right. And I can't get too lazy on a Sunday afternoon, lest I burn myself on the soldering iron!

Lazy Sunday

Lazy and Sunday, in the same sentence, can only be something like "I wish I could be lazy on a Sunday!" Sheesh...

How about this?

Going to the local hamfests!

CQ TEST

My usual weekend radio activities are usually centered around a contest. Preparing for a contest, checking out the station, or operating the contest.

A lazy sunday would be sitting around watching a movie and eating pizza.
Posted by AD6WL on 2004-03-04

A Lazy Sunday Afternoon...

A choice would also be HF Mobileering, say in a state or national forest. Or maybe packing things up to head home from a weekend of all-night mountain-topping.

Using the HT crossband

Since getting introduced to crossband repeating with a Kenwood TS2000 and a Yaesu FT8900 (both will do 10 meter or 6 meter FM to UHF) I have found sundays used more with the HT and hiking around town. It is a great way to go for walks with the wife and 14 month old daughter, and still keep tabs on the radio. I even make contacts now and then. The FT8900 was great this fall as I could watch football in the living room, and still work 10 meter FM.

Can't wait until this summer when I can run crossband repeat with 6 meter SSB on the TS2000 and the Yaesu VX5R on UHF. Now I can still work 6 while biking back and forth to work, and while taking the daughter to the park down the street. Will wonders never cease with new radios?

Lazy Sunday???

What is that??? You must not be married.. HIHI
Posted by W5DXE on 2004-03-03

Please add a "None of the above"

Try hiking on a sunday without any eletronic gadgets at all. It's just great.

A lazy Sunday is best spent...

Attending a very good Hamfest! Not to buy equipment, but seeing all the faces that you have talked with on the air. Fellowship with your brother Amateurs over a nice cup of coffee.

none of the above

Sorry I do not live and die by ham radio. I can think of about a million other ways that I would spend a lazy Sunday. Ham radio for me is only when I can't do something else.

My Sunday

Come home from church, have lunch and play with the grandchildren.

While I spend several hours a week on the radio, my world has other things in it of greater importance. :)

6 meters

I'm on my computer a lot during the weekends, so I love to monitor 6 meters (50.125 MHz) for openings, especially during the late Spring and Summer months. I am amazed at how many openings one can 'catch' when monitoring. I've been on 6m only 3 years, and already have 48 states confirmed (less Alaska and Hawaii) on 6m, using only 100w and a simple PAR 'Omniangle' loop at 25 feet! I have become a 6m 'junkie'.

What to do on a lazy Sunday

Be lazy? Seriously though, my Sundays are usually spent building antennas. Monday through Friday is spent working for the state. Saturday morning is for the honey-do's, and Saturday afternoon is spent fishing, ragchewing, or chasing DX. Since the XYL works on weekends, I get alot of free time to pursue my hobbies.

Well said N3ZKP!

I couldn't find any non-ham-related choices in the survey.

My Sundays are usually spent with my family, with the radio usually a late-night activity. I reserve my selfish indulgences to the odd contest, and my annual, no-holds-barred immersion in Field Day!

Sunday?

I try to crash for a few hours and get some sleep!
Posted by AD7DB on 2004-03-02

Working CW

...is about as lazy as I get. Very relaxing, it can put me to sleep and doesn't bother the family.

I think only the dog can hear the keyer paddle making little clicks. Then, he comes into the shack and curls up by my feet.

But from April through November, I don't have any lazy Sundays. The sun's shining, the sky's blue, it's hot and I'm outside. I can get lazy at night.

A LAZY SUNDAY

HOW ABOUT " NONE OF THE ABOVE"
Posted by KK7WN on 2004-03-01

None of the above

A lazy sunday (afternoon/evening) is best spent recovering from a 48 hour contest!
Posted by KL9A on 2004-03-01

DX is...

Weekend days and eves usually add up to the most time that I can spend on the radio. Its nice to be able to work someone half way around the world after an 8-5 work week. Then after the fun is over, I get my cards ready for the buro and think about next weekend! de KJ7XJ
Posted by KJ7XJ on 2004-03-01

Just did it

Pixie II now in the Altoids tin.
It is CURIOUSLY STRONG. :-)

Next Sunday: winding the toriods and
finishing the EMTECH QRP tuner.

I love the smell of melting solder in the morning!
It smells like... QRP!

Fixing Other Than ...

A lazy Sunday Afternoon isn't listed for me. I end up repairing the Car, the Sink, the Shower Spray Hose, the Dryer, the Oven, Changing the burned out lightbulbs in the hallway and over the XYL's Bathroom mirror. If I get all that done, then I get to look at my radio for a couple of minutes before the wife and kids find something else to have me fix.
Posted by N1RWC on 2004-03-01

Lazy Sundays

I try to get the fixing done, and getting the 6 meter contact (when the band is open) that i been waiting for. When the gang is on
do some ragchew. All this if the xyl is not home... other then that... well cut the grass clean up the yard and finish up the honey-do-list. Then i can play radio!!!!
Posted by W3NRL on 2004-03-01

NONE of the above

Sunday: cut the grass, clean the garage, wash the car(s), work on the motorhome, paint something, repair something, go somewhere, all to be decided by my Tour Director, the XYL.
Posted by OBSERVER11 on 2004-03-01

Well, lets see I spent this weekend on the NAQP RTTY contest and the 160m phone contest. But that wasn't one of the choices.
Posted by OLDFART13 on 2004-02-29

Noticeably more activity on Sundays

DX'ing is my favorite aspect of ham radio, so I voted accordingly. Since Sunday seems to be the most active day for hams worldwide, I always listen to the bands, especially near sunrise. Competition is always greater on Sundays, too!

Posted by NI0C on 2004-02-29

How about "all of the above"
K9ZF
Posted by K9ZF on 2004-02-29

Poll

Everybody is too busy ragchewing, fixing that "one day" bit of gear, DXing, strapping on the tower climbing harness, seeing what all this qrp stuff is all about, re-discovering the fun on 6 metres, and charging up the hand-held and going for a hike to post anything here.

DX Is...?

DX is.....distant station/contact.

DX is...harder to come by on 6/10/12 meters these days.

DX is...interesting.

DX is...best left to those with "big gun" shacks!

DX is...not as relaxing as a good ragchew.

DX is...apparently robbing someone of spelling skills!

Lazy Sunday

If I am not at the range shooting then I want to be a QRP Ragchewing DXer. I always seem to do these things the hard way. 73, Trent
