Christmas Day 1914
During WW 1 a famous Christmas truce was decided on the lower ranking soliders on both the German and British sides. From Ypres salient to La Bassee Canal was a 27 mile front of death and destruction. Fraternisation began in no man's land where gifts and buttons were exchanged between the 2 sides. Christmas songs were sung soccer games were played.
In our age of uncertainty, it comforting to believe, regardless of the real reasoning and motives, that soldiers and officers told to hate, loathe and kill, could still lower their guns and extend the hand of goodwill, peace, love and Christmas cheer.
Maybe we should learn from history, Merry Xmas

Happy Holidays
AH6RR tells us "Junk all this Happy Holiday junk amd Remember the real Reason for the seaSon Jesus the Christ."
I've been getting a lot of flack from Christians lately for greeting folks with "Happy Holidays". When you work with the public, anything other than a generic Holiday greeting can get you in Dutch. Since we live in a pluralistic society, wishing everybody "Merry Christmas" may be offensive to Jews or Muslims. There is nothing wrong with wishing somebody "Happy Holidays". Whether a person is celebrating Christmas, Hanukah, Kwaanza or Ramadan, "Happy Holidays" covers 'em all.
So, whatever you're celebrating, may you all have a wonderful Holiday season and a Happy 2006!

Merry Christmas
That's right I said it, MERRY CHRISTMAS, and if I offend anybody out there, TOUGH. I served our country to preserve our freedom of speech and if there is anyone and I mean anyone or anybody that is offended by my saying 'MERRY CHRISTMAS', then move, move and I say move. We AMERICANS can and will say anything we want to at CHRISTMAS time. No not holiday time. The other holidays are still the same, at least they are today, who knows what someone will do to the rest of the holidays, HAPPY NEW YEARS, MEMORIAL DAY (could be we celebrate that day for the same reason I am voicing my opinion), FOURTH OF JULY, (HMMM wonder why we celebrate the FOURTH OF JULY}, LABOR DAY, thats a holiday, and then we are right back to THANKSGIVING (can anyone figure out why we celebrate that day}. Wonder why we are in IRAQ so that those people can live free and voice their own opinions without getting shot or worse killed because someone said something they didn't like it. Oh don't tell any service member that they aren't doing anygood in any country they may be in.
So there that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it and guess what NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE CAN TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME.
Lets all have a very HAPPY NEW YEARS, and I hope it is a safe and good NEW YEARS for all.
73's Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to all...Mike, N0mud

Politically Correct ;-)
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes
for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress,
nonaddictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice
holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Britain great (not to imply that Britain is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "Britain" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wishee.
By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:
This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal.
It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting.
It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the
wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.
This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual
application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher...

While I am thinking about it The XYL and I are moving to a new QTH and I sure could use a Tower 35-40 feet will do. The only thing I would sent to the ACLU is a bag of warm Doo Doo.

Peace on earth...
I told my XYL that all I wanted for Christmas was a Desecheo Island QSO. (Which I have already received. Tnx N3KS and K3LP!) However, if Peace on earth is available, I've got to put in my vote for that. 73 to my friends of all faiths all over the world.

I like snow!
I like snow on my antenna. Makes it more broadbanded. ;-)
Snow on the ground makes my antennas closer to the ground. ;-)

poetically correct
It is now poetically correct to say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. That is good so it won't affend people. But the word holiday comes from the Greek word holy day. Just something to think about. And I will say it, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Peace on Earth
Nothing could be more valuable than peace on Earth, but to have it would require accepting the message of Christmas and personal sacrifice to work for it. This is the challenge. At least, we can pray for it.
Merry Christmas to all and on Earth peace to all men of good will, whoever they are and wherever they may be.

ACLU
125 Broad Street

Include a few nice thoughts wishing them a very Merry Christian Christmas, tell them there's no such thing as a holiday tree, its called a Christmas Tree. Don't be rude or nasty to them just mention what i've said above. WR8D John

And don't buy from stores that give you the "happy holiday" greeting or who sell "holiday trees" or a new radio for the "holidays" - it's Merry Christmas and I want a new radio for Christmas. That's what it is about - Christmas - let's keep it that way!

holidays?
first of all, there are three holidays plus new year's that are celebrated this time of year (not counting Saturnalia for all you dead Romans). So Happy Holidays is very appropriate to make sure all of us are included.
second, don't you people get it? Others are wishing you well. And here you fuss about the form of a good will wish. Jeez. Wotta bunch of prunes you 'anti-holidays' people are. shame on you.
